There is much to see in the city, with narrow streets full of people and typical old buildings. Another attraction is the lake of Kandy. A lovely centerpiece for the town, Kandy Lake was created in 1807 by Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe, the last ruler of the Kingdom of Kandy. When you are tired of all the walking, you can relax in the Old Queen’s Hotel near Kandy Lake. In the religious and social life of Sri Lanka there is nothing more resplendent than the annual Kandy Perehara pageant in the month of August.
